Elevating Children’s Education
in the Bélen District
The Bélen District of Iquitos, Peru faces extreme poverty and frequent flooding. Many children grow up without consistent education or nutrition. Through Bélen Kids, Mira Mira funds education programs and the construction of a new, elevated school — creating a safe space for children to learn and dream.
We are currently raising funds to build a new, elevated school in Bélen. Each year, seasonal floods leave the current learning space underwater for much of the year, making it inaccessible. The new school will provide a safe, elevated place to learn, play, and simply be a child. We are excited to share that construction officially broke ground this past July, bringing us one step closer to a brighter future for the children of Bélen.
