OUR STORY
Mira Mira was founded on the belief that love in action changes lives. Our journey began in Iquitos, Peru, where we witnessed the resilience and needs of children and families firsthand. Out of that experience came a mission: to mobilize love and resources in the U.S. to strengthen local ministries already serving faithfully.
Our Heart for Iquitos, Peru
OUR MISSION
to show the world what love can do —
by supporting vulnerable children, building hope-filled spaces, and
bringing the light of Christ to the heart of Iquitos, Peru.

OUR VISION
A city transformed by love — where every child is safe, every student has a future, and every life is given hope.

Mira Mira was born out of two life-changing trips to Iquitos, Peru. When we returned home to Minnesota, our hearts were forever changed. We saw not only the challenges children and families face, but also the incredible hope and resilience they carry. We knew, with God’s help, that we were called to do more.
Mira Mira exists to raise awareness and resources for our partners in Iquitos — supporting safe homes, education, and ministries that bring love in action to those who need it most.
“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18
WHAT WE SUPPORT
At the heart of Mira Mira is a safe, nurturing home for children who have experienced hardship or instability. Here, they receive not only shelter and basic needs, but also the love, structure, and emotional support essential for healing and growth. It’s a place where kids are seen, valued, and empowered to dream beyond their circumstances. Currently, there are 17 girls, ages 6 months to 14 years at Hogar Genesis.
HOGAR GENESIS
We believe education is a powerful tool for transformation. Mira Mira is helping build and sustain a new school in the Belén District. By removing barriers to education, we open doors to opportunity, independence, and a brighter future.
BELEN KIDS
Through compassionate and consistent street outreach, we meet people where they are—offering everything from haircuts and hot meals to coffee and conversation infused with the hope of the gospel. Whether someone is struggling with addiction, homelessness, or simply in need of connection, we provide meals, hygiene supplies, emotional support, and genuine friendship—reminding each person that they are not alone, and that their life matters.

Where did the name Mira Mira come from?
The name Mira Mira comes from our time in Iquitos at Hogar Genesis. Whenever we opened the door, the little girls would excitedly shout, “Mira! Mira! Mira!” — which means “Look! Look! Look!” in Spanish. Whether showing us their swimsuits before a pool visit, a new dress and shoes for ice cream, or their toys and drawings, they always wanted us to see them.
The name reflects our mission: to invite the world to look and see the love that exists in Iquitos and witness what love can do.
